San Francisco Giants World Series Champions

The 2010 baseball season was an amazing season for me. Five no hitters, two perfect games, a regular season where crowning the NL West Champion came down to the final game of the season and being able to attend Ubaldo Jimenez pitch versus Tim Lincecum at AT&T park(my birthday gift), hands down the most beautiful ballpark in America. I also purchased MLB.TV package so I could watch my home town Los Angeles Dodgers via my computer or PS3.
Living up in San Francisco afforded me the chance to watch the Giants play on quite a regular basis whether at home or at the bar. Watching the Giants this past season really made me appreciate what they have done for the city of San Francisco. The fans here are very loyal to their team and never lose faith. The Giants were involved in many games that were highly entertaining. There were always last minute heroics or some amazing pitch made by someone on their pitching staff. I've grown into a love affair with watching them play. Just great baseball.

Whenever any Giants fans found out I was a Dodger fan the trash talked flared up. As they talked about Manny and steroids all I had to say was you had a guy called "Barry Bonds." Another comment is that the Giants were better than the Dodgers and my comeback was always "How Many World Series Rings do you have? Oh yeah thats right zero. How many to the Dodgers have more than the Giants!" After Monday November 1st 2010 I can no longer say zero World Series titles for the Giants. Most Giants fans I have encountered have been well rounded and polite people who didn't hate you or disrespect you if you weren't a Giants fan. They are willing to talk baseball with you and never did I meet a fan who did not believe they Giants would not win. Thats the type of fan every team strives to have supporting them. The Giants definitely have some of the best fan loyalty I have seen and I am quite honored to able to be apart of a town that supports their team this much. Makes me like the Giants when they are not playing my Dodgers. Congratulations to the 2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.

Football Season is ON!

So this football season is in full swing yet I haven't had any time to watch any games. Been working or school or something that eats up my time which doesn't allow me to watch. I do manage to watch every Sunday Night Football game thus far, which most have not been good as of yet. I have had time to follow my 49ers and have been disappointed by their effort thus far.

The Niners could be 5-0 right now had we been playing smart football yet we are 0 -5 instead. Every one wants to blame Alex Smith, which is the easy way out, instead of blaming the organization for the 9 different Offensive Coordinators in 8 years. Not to mention the 6 different offensive coordinators for Alex Smith during his tenure. Every coordinator has different language and different plays which takes time to adjust to and learn the system. So how can anyone blame Smith for not performing well when his offense is changing constantly. This season Alex Smith has 1229 yards, 62.1 % completion percentage, with 6 Td's & 9 ints. Now if Alex Smith plays a little smarter and reduce the amount of int's then yes the Niners will be in games but not all of the picks are the Smith. So far this season he is having and OK season but not a bad enough season where we can place all of the blame on him.

All I say is I have faith in Smith and just think the Niners need a true kick in the ass to get started. This season may be lost if there is a loss versus the Raiders this weekend but if there is a win a 11 - 5 season could be on the way with the Niners in the playoffs. Here is to 11 - 5

And The Show Goes On....

So this past weekend I was in LA for a wedding of one of my good friends and a month ago was in San Diego for my little sister weddings. Have been extremely busy with work and school but I must keep on the grind. My trips down to LA always involve my family and my son. To LA!

Mama's

The line out the door
There is a place in San Francisco that has the most amazing breakfast! It is a well know establishment in San Francisco. Tourist and city dwellers enjoy a nice wait along with a nice breakfast. Mama's is located in Washington Square, 1701 Stockton Street San Francisco, CA 94133.

I was introduced to Mama's because of a childhood friend who lives in SF. He is always asking me to try different food places around the city with him. So I took this adventure with him out to Washington Square and had some of the best breakfast of my life. So eating at this place with Steve I had to bring Nancy to the place. She is a San Francisco native yet she has not been to Mama's. How could this be?

I was shocked so one morning, that I finally got off from work, we woke up early and headed out to Washington Square. The thing about Mama's is that you have to get there early or a few hours before it closes. It's open Tuesday through Saturday 8am - 3pm. They are close on Monday's and normally the line is at least 15 - 30 people deep. Tourist and city dwellers alike flock to Mama's and wait in the Sun, cold, rain for 45 mins to hour just to get to the front door. Now I know what I just said is slightly confusing but the way you order at Mama's is you line up outside the restaurant wall which has the menu posted on the window so you can think about what you would like to order prior to getting inside. Now once you wait outside for what seems like an eternity you then head in the farm style opening door, which happens to have another line inside. This line is only say 5 people deep and there is only a line because people are indecisive are the register in placing there order. The inside of the restaurant can only hold around 20 people and is very quaint.

Upon going in the I have seen the same staff for well over a year and not a new face has entered the establishment. It is a comforting feeling to have the staff remember who I am and remember what I ordered and to keep trying this amazing jam with my french toast. All I know is that the food and the company you bring will enjoy the trip no matter how often you go and how long you wait. LIVE LIFE ENJOY FOOD!
I ATE ALL OF THIS

A New Beginning

This time of year the End of August and beginning of September is starting to become one of my favorite times of year. Nothing will ever beat the holiday's but this time of year were everyone is starting with fresh classes, kids going back to school, and families beginning the fall prep. Not mention its about to be college football and pro football season. This means the bar on Sunday's with my buddies and Sunday Night Football at home with wifey. As well it will be the baseball playoffs. It's not the best time of year for sports but its just a great time for two of the sports that I love.

This particular year I am very excited because I have enrolled in school and am truly following through with what I am setting out to do and letting nothing stop me from accomplishing my goals. I believe everyone should really take the time out to think about what they want and how to get there and just know if obstacles get in your way that they are just obstacles and when there is a will there is a way!

Enjoy the fall!

Rotface

I play a game called World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft or WOW is a  MMORPG(massive multiplayer online role playing game). You have millions of people who create characters and complete quests in order to reach the maximum level. I have been playing WOW since Sept 2007 and I have enjoyed it tremendously. Here is a video of what I play in my free time when I actually have it.

Farmer Browns

I have been going on a food expedition throughout San Francisco since I have arrived. I have found numerous places that have the most amazing food. I have been craving soul food and have been looking throughout the city. I have found place in 1300onFillmore that served up a new twist on on Soul Food. My fiance, knowing I wanted to have Soul Food had stumbled across a restaurant called Farmer Browns. She had found out about Farmer Browns on a show on called Check Please Bay Area. She then of course Yelp! it and found that most of the reviews for the restaurant were very good. So one night we decided to head downtown to check it out. Upon arriving to the restaurant I was taken back by the exterior of the location. There were bars on the windows and a gated fence with a security guard. Once I saw this I thought of Magic Johnsons TGIF located in Los Angeles, Ca, where they need security guards for an below average experience. Even with these thoughts already we still headed inside.

Upon entering there is a big wooden door with a curtain draped behind it. The bar is located on the right hand side of the restaurant as you enter with the hostess table to your left. When I walked in the door all I could hear was soulful music playing over loud speakers. As a glanced further left I noticed there was a D.J. booth with a D.J. doing live spinning for the restaurant. We speak with the hostess and are seated immediately. To my right there was a projection screen playing a video of break dancing in Los Angeles. The entire time while you are eating, ordering, conversing, and watching the film the D.J. is spinning tunes for you. There was Jill Scott played, Jackson 5, and Gangstarr to name a few. I definitely felt right at home in the restaurant.

Once I finally looked at the menu I decided to try the gumbo out as an appetizer. Now my grandma makes the best gumbo in the world to me and I know that when I usually go to places and order gumbo its never lives up to anything of what I am expecting. Well let me tell you that Farmer Browns Gumbo lived up to my expectations and exceeded them. It was so delicious and tasty. All of the flavors of the rue, rice, seafood inside of your mouth was amazing. The cup of gumbo with a  side of corn bread to top off the appetizer just right.

For Dinner My fiance and I decided that one of us would order their Fried Chicken (Signature Dish) and the other would get the Pull Pork Sandwich. Now after eating at 1300onFillmore I was a little afraid to have the fried chicken because after having Chicken at 1300onFillmore I was afraid their chicken would not live up to the billing. But boy was I in for a surprise. If anyone grew up on fried chicken you always knew that smell of fried chicken and the way it would find you anywhere in the house calling your name. Coming downstairs to see your mom hovering over the stove with you trying to steal some chicken without her noticing. Well this is how good that fried chicken tasted. It had the familiar taste of my mom hovering over the stove and making a fresh batch for dinner. Not to mention the greens that came with it tasted like grandma's greens that she grows fresh out of her garden right in the backyard of her house. The Macaroni and cheese was quite delicious as well. There could of been more cheese melted baked into it but it was still a great third piece to the meal. My Fiance order the Pull Pork Sandwich which I tasted and was quite delicious. She didn't finish it all but said she enjoyed it. The pulled pork sandwich came with bbq chips which were ok. There was a lot on the plate's between fried chicken, pulled pork and gumbo. For dessert we decided we would share some Red Velvet cake. Now after having two great dishes I automatically assumed that I cake would be the most delicious red velvet cake of my life. Sadly to say it was not. It was a little to dry for my taste and  we did not finish it sadly to say.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to go to dinner to have a great experience with food and music. The vibe of the place is very uplifting with everyone seeming to have a good time. There was people of all types enjoying soul food the way it should be. If you want to check it out go to 25 Mason St. San Francisco, Ca. 415.409.Farm.

Enjoy your eating.

1300onFillmore

San Francisco is an amazing food city. I have been looking for great soul food inside of the city. I have tried to Yelp Soul Food restaurants and what always seemed to pop up was Hard Knocks. Hard knocks is an average restaurant to me serving food to people who don't necessary know what Soul Food is or how it should be served. Because I have been raised on Soul Food I definitely know how it should look, smell, and taste. I also understand that food evolves and that fried chicken can be done many different ways but still taste like classic fried chicken. Well 1300onFillmore put a brand new twist on Soul Food that is new and innovative. It is new American Soul that everyone needs to take the time out and try.

I noticed 1300onFillmore because I catch the 22 and 31 on the corner of Fillmore and Eddy. One night I was catching the bus home and saw this restaurant. I saw people coming of the restaurant laughing, joking, and just having a good time. Any restaurant that has people still bustling with excitement after they leave it and not sleepy and lethargic is a place in which I need to have a dining experience. Dining at this establishment is definitely an experience of your taste buds, eyes, and hospitality.

So my fiance and I decided to go to the restaurant after work one day. Upon arrival it was dimly lit which added to the intimacy of the restaurant. There was Jazz slides playing above the bar informing people of the neighborhood Jazz tradition. The wait staff was amazing with great suggestions of what to try and what to try on your next visit. For an appetizer we had Fresh Water Shrimp Hushpuppies. These hushpuppies were truly amazing. My taste buds could swear they were at a church revival, thats how good they were. I had never had hushpuppies that good before. I had the Black Skillet Fried Chicken, which came with Buttermilk whipped Mash Potatoes, and Pan Gravy. The Black Skillet Fried Chicken was deceptively large. I didn't think there was that much chicken on the plate until i realized I had half of a bird on the plate. WOW was it crispy yet juicy, nicely breaded but not greasy. It was the perfect fried chicken. I was in utter shock to how good the fried chicken was. The mashed potatoes were something to die for as well. They were so creamy and buttery and just WOW. That is the word that kept coming to mind as i put spoon full after spoon full after spoon full. What I can say is that if anyone decides to go to 1300onFillmore don't hesitate. It is worth every penny, from the food, to the service, to the ambiance, to how clean the bathroom's are. It is a must dine and I can't wait to go back for seconds, thirds, and fourths and so on and so on.

On the next post I will take pictures of the food so you can see what I ate....

Internet is More than Point and Click

I have been talking with many of my friends and they are unaware of lot of apps or things that the internet can truly do. It's funny how my generation is suppose to be the technology friendly generation but are we? Most of us know how to get on the internet, facebook, twitter(sometimes), email, google search, & aim. But do people realize how there are powerful tools which could really enhance your internet activity or your Mac experience. I gave up on pcs too much hassle mac is more stable in my opinion. Here are a list of apps or sites that I use. Happy hunting.

Google Calendar - Great Organizer that you can take anywhere and print out if necessary.
Google Reader - Visit lots of Sites but unsure of when they are updated reader will do that for you.
Google Voice - Tired of Checking Voicemail or switching numbers this takes care of that.
Google Docs - Need to back up files upload any file or sync bookmarks across any platform
Handbrake - Turn your ancient dvd library into a digital one
Fluid - Make a app out of any webpage
Chrome OS - Smooth and Fast OS
VLC - View Any digital Media

If you have any other apps that are noteworthy feel free to leave a comment on them.

Too Many Games Not Enough Time

This month is crazy for games. There are so many good games coming out and not enough time to play them all. Final Fantasy XIII came out, which is over 50 hours of gameplay, Heavy Rain, God of War, Command and Conquer 4 and Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories.
On top of everything else going on in life when does one have time to sit down to complete all these games??? I am only 8 hours into Final Fantasy, which is a great game and I think anyone who has a PS3 or XBOX 360 pick this up. Square finally is headed in the right direction. I have had on a few hours on Heavy Rain and all I can say is that the narrative of the story really pulls you in and it sometimes feels as if you are the character playing the game. God of War and Command and Conquer 4 have yet to be open but they will be shortly. Grand Theft Auto's release date is 3/30/2010. So here is to February a great video game month.

Fw: She said yes!

She said yes!

So its funny how life works and the things that get thrown at you. I just got engaged and it is one of the best feelings in the world. Some say its a scary thing to spend forever with someone(because I do believe marriage should be forever) and to me its a wonderful idea. I've seen some of my friends parents who have been together for ages and they never look happier than the moments they spend together. Those are the moments I cherish and want and can't wait to experience. Here is to yes!
